ModernizeYourWebsite builds websites for local businesses. This policy covers this website, the website previews we send, and our emails, calls and text messages. For any privacy question or request, email matthew@modernizeyourwebsite.com.

• When you use our contact form: your name, email, and anything else you choose to give us (phone, business name, website, type of business, your message), plus the page you sent it from.
• If you choose SMS updates: your phone number, the disclosure you agreed to and its version, when we received your choice, the form and origin it came from, and a hashed network identifier used for abuse prevention. We also keep SMS replies, help requests and opt-out records as needed to operate the program and honor your choices.
• Public business information: to build a preview we use what a business has published, such as its website, Google Business Profile and public reviews.
• When you open a preview: basic visit information, such as the time, pages viewed, how long the page stayed open, browser type, an approximate location from your network, and a hashed (not stored in readable form) IP address. We use this to tell real visits from automated link checks and to know when to follow up.
• If you buy: the order details and your billing contact. Card payments are handled by Stripe; we never see your full card number.

• To reply to you and build, deliver and support your website.
• To contact businesses about a preview we’ve built for them.
• To protect our forms from spam and abuse.
• To keep the records we need for accounting and the law, including opt-outs.

We don’t sell personal information, and we don’t use it for third-party advertising.

If we’ve emailed you and you’d rather we didn’t, reply “no thanks” or use the unsubscribe link, and we’ll stop. We keep a record of the opt-out so it sticks.

For text messages, reply STOP to opt out or HELP for support information. You can also email matthew@modernizeyourwebsite.com. SMS consent is optional and separate from email or phone contact. Leaving the SMS checkbox unchecked does not enroll you, and a later form submission does not automatically undo an earlier opt-out. See our SMS terms.

Only the services we need to run the business: website hosting (Cloudflare), payments (Stripe), and email delivery. They process data for us under their own privacy terms.

We do not sell or share mobile information, SMS opt-in data or consent with third parties or affiliates for marketing or promotional purposes. Any other sharing described here excludes SMS opt-in data and consent for those purposes. We share messaging information only with providers that help deliver and operate the program, such as our messaging platform and phone carriers, and as required by law. Those providers may use it only to provide the service, not for their own marketing.

We keep information only as long as we need it for the purposes above, then delete it. Opt-out records and accounting records are kept longer because we’re required to, or so an opt-out keeps working.
